Chrome is a web browser developed by Google. Google Chrome is not an open source browser. however, most of its code is released as open source in Google’s another browser Chromium. Google Chrome is the most used web browser worldwide according to last year’s usage statistics.
Most people use two web browsers, first being Google Chrome and second is Mozilla Firefox which is an open source browser too. But in Mac OS X we already have Safari, so the good choice between Chrome and Firefox is Chrome.

Google Chrome is fast because it comes with V8 JavaScript engine however, there is one drawback of using Google Chrome, i.e. it consumes a lot of memory and battery. For most users memory is not an issue because they have plenty of it, but battery consumption is a major issue. While running Chrome you can click on battery icon at top right corner to see which all apps that are consuming more power and Chrome would be definitely there.
How to Install Google Chrome in Mac OS X
Google Chrome is available for Mac OS X 10.6 or later, which means people running Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, OS X 10.7 Lion and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard can install Chrome in their mac.
- Go to official “Download page” of Google Chromeand download Chrome for Mac OS X.
- Open the downloaded file “googlechrome.dmg” and drag “Chrome.app” to the “Application” folder.
- You can access Chrome from (F4 -> Chrome). Sign in into Google Chrome to sync your history and bookmarks.
